Background: SEAS-ERA "Towards integrated European marine research strategy and programmes" is a European Network that attempts, as a general objective, to embrace marine and maritime research in its entirety, overarching the previous initiatives which only targeted a given area or basin and, therefore, constituting a stable and durable structure for empowering and strengthening marine research all across Europe.
Objective: The aim of this Final Conference is two-fold: 1) An overview of the first year of the 5 projects funded by SEAS-ERA Atlantic and Mediterranean call 2012. 2) A presentation of the results and achievements obtained at the end of SEAS-ERA, the final conclusions of the project and future perspectives of action and next steps for cooperation in support of better alignment of national marine research programming. The Mediterranean perspectives are specially considered.
The Conference program includes, also, sessions of strategic interest in the field of marine research and the international relations between countries sharing oceans.
Participants: The Final Conference of SEAS-ERA will bring together the partners of the ERANET, the coordinators of the projects funded by SEAS-ERA Atlantic and Mediterranean call, and relevant experts on seas and oceans research.
